This procedure is typically undergone by women who suffer from a condition called endometriosis that causes endometrial tissue to form on the outside of the uterus, ultimately causing pelvic pain. Additionally, this condition is seen in 10% of couples that struggle with infertility. Since over 14 million women in the U.S. suffer from endometriosis, this number is significant. Tuboplasty, the Procedure
This procedure aims to increase the chances of fertility in women and to repair the fallopian tube itself. There are many ways to do a tubal reversal and the procedure can vary greatly. Usually, a doctor removes scar tissue from the tubes. Then, they create a new opening in the tube and remove the damaged part.
One of the most common forms of tubal reversal is “balloon tuboplasty.” This kind uses a balloon that is inserted into the woman’s vagina through the cervix until it reaches the fallopian tube. Then, the balloon is inflated, effectively clearing the blockage.
